Qiao Fei (Jay Chou) is a young man who conducts the protection of ancient cultural relics, tomb and artifacts. He is also dedicated in combating its smuggling and reselling activities. One day he manages to possess a treasure map from the original map keeper, which is also being wanted by an international crime group at the same time.
In order to obtain the map successfully, they kidnap the archaeological map scientist's daughter, Lan Ting (Lin Chi Ling) and in order to save her life Qiao Fei has to surrender the map to the group in exchange for her release. Later under the harsh desert condition he teams up with Hua Ding Bang, a famous archeologist and Lan Ting in search of a legendary city where the map is believed to be hidden.
This is also the time when romance blossoms between Qiao Fei and Lan Ting. The team face great obstacles and challenges inside the legendary city and has to decide to be friend or enemy among themselves in the chase for the treasure map. What secret is hidden inside the treasure? Will they ever find the map and locate the treasure in the end?
